Dr. Philip Gachassin
Dr. Philip Gachassin is a native of Lafayette, LA and a graduate of St. Thomas More High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Tulane University and his Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine, both in New Orleans. He completed his surgical training at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL. Dr. Gachassin is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Gachassin serves as site surveyor for the American College of Surgeons Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Project. He serves as Medical Director of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program at Lafayette General Medical Center. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Lafayette Parish Medical Society. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Lafayette General Health. He has served as the President of the Medical Staff at Lafayette General Medical Center. Dr. Gachassin holds an academic appointment from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery. Dr. Gachassin has been performing Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery since 1997 and has been in private practice for fourteen years. Dr. Gachassin founded Acadiana Weight Loss Surgery in 2004. He lives in Lafayette with his wife Jessica, and their three sons Jacques, Turner and Benjamin.
Dr. Dennis Eschete
Dr. Dennis Eschete is a native of Houma, LA and a graduate of Central Lafourche High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from LSU in Baton Rouge, LA and his Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. He completed his surgical training at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA, then completed a year-long minimally-invasive surgical fellowship at North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Manhasset, NY. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, as well as a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, American Society of General Surgeons, and Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons. He is also a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Lafayette Parish Medical Society. Dr. Eschete has been in private practice in Lafayette since September 2009 and resides in Lafayette with his wife Darah.
